Desert Vista Church

Desert Vista's Core Beliefs

The Bible :: The Bible, comprised of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, is the inspired Word of God, and constitutes the infallible, authoritative source of truth, faith, and practice.

God :: There is one holy God, eternally existent in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Man :: Man is created in the image of God, but fallen, lost and powerless to save himself.

Jesus Christ :: Jesus Christ, the virgin-born Son of God, was crucified to take upon Himself the punishment for the sin of all mankind. He arose from the dead, thereby conquering sin, death and the grave. Jesus will personally return to the earth in power and glory.

Salvation :: Man's only hope is to believe in Jesus Christ and trust Him as Savior (Forgiver) and Lord (Leader).

Baptism & Communion :: Baptism by immersion in water and Holy Communion are primary ways that believers celebrate their faith and hope in Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit :: The Holy Spirit indwells those who receive Christ and empowers believers to live righteous and holy lives. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit, along with its evidences, and the gifts of the Spirit are available to believers today.

Healing :: Consistent with His earthly ministry, Jesus Christ still offers healing for the physical, relational and emotional pain in people’s lives.

Life Transformation :: When a life is changed by the love of Christ, a journey of becoming like Christ begins. This change is displayed inwardly with love, joy, and peace; it is displayed outwardly in lives of integrity and holiness; and it is shown relationally by love and grace.

The Future :: Someday life as we know it, will come to an end. Jesus will return and show Himself to be "King of Kings." Everyone will be held accountable for the choices of their lives. A permanent, personal relationship with God, without the influence of evil and pain will be established for all who have chosen Christ; this will be heaven, forever.  Hell, eternal torment and separation from God, await those who have rejected a personal relationship with Christ.

The Church :: The Church is the Body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head, and is comprised of all those who, through a relationship with Christ, have been spiritually changed by the personal work of the Holy Spirit. Believers are called to pursue God’s mission, both collectively and individually. For some this calling is a vocation (pastors, missionaries, etc.), for all it is to be a passion.
